Awakening Fearlessness:
Weaving Chakras and Ayurveda into Yoga Therapeutics for the Core, Hips, and Low Back
A Continuing Education Immersion for Yoga Teachers and Experienced Yoga Students
Includes 6hrs CEU with Yoga Alliance
Yoga teachers are inspired by the mind-body connection that is awakened through yoga. They’ve experienced it for themselves and they want to pass it on to their students. By incorporating Chakra and Ayurvedic wisdom into their practice, yoga teachers can help themselves and their students awaken pranic flow, deepen their physical and emotional resilience, and tap into the inner strength we all need to thrive in a chaotic world.
Addressing a weak core and tight low back through yoga can not only improve physical ease but can also provide a gateway to emotional and spiritual healing given the right sequencing components and body/breath awareness.
The Himalayan Institute has a long tradition of educating yoga teachers in the alchemic powers of Yoga, Ayurveda, and the Chakras. Join Sarah Guglielmi, Himalayan Institute of Buffalo faculty for an exploration that will deepen your personal practice and provide new approaches to share with your students.
Morning Session: Core and Low Back Therapeutics
10am-1pm
Explore an expanded view of core and low back strength and stability to share with your students. Topics include common dysfunction in the core and low back, antagonist/agonist muscle pairs, vata subdoshas that influence core stabilization and pranic flow (samana and apana vayus), and the influence of the lower 3 chakras on physical, emotional, and spiritual strength. Expect 2 hours of discussion followed by 1 hour of guided therapeutic asana practice. Handouts of therapeutic sequences will be provided. Use them for home practice or as a reference to design into your yoga sequences.
Afternoon Session: Hip Therapeutics
2:30pm-5:30pm
Following a similar format to the morning session, we’ll explore an expanded view of hip strength and stability that you can take into the yoga classroom. Topics include common physical and energetic imbalances of the hip, antagonist/agonist muscle pairs, vata subdoshas that influence the hip (apana vayu), and ways to support proper pranic flow in the space of the root and sacral chakras. Therapeutic sequences will be practiced with handouts to take home. Use them for home practice and as a reference for sequence design.
